What we need is an aggressive genius manufacturer (the gun version of Elon Musk) that can figure out a way to accelerate a .22lr to 4000fps in the same cartridge. This would open a new market for CA legal firearm manufacturing that can loophole rimfire laws and avoid bullet buttons. The .22lr is due for a technology overhaul. Imagine a whole new world of home defense carbine pistols with massive (yet to be invented) 7mm-9mm rimfire ammo legal to own in CA without a bullet button. The law makers will catch up, but they will ALWAYS be behind technology. Laws are SLOW to pass and whoever invents this will sell 1,000,000 units the first year, then it will eventually collapse and even out to a few thousand units a year.
Before anyone says it can't be done because of technical limitations, I'm a molecular biologist and I can tell you scientists have done more in the last 5 years than they have in the last 50! The exponential increase of information technology has yet to crossover into small arms weaponry aside from the new Tracking Point Rifle Systems (similar tech will be available to the general hunter in 5 years for $1500-$2,000 from Nikon) how do I know this? Everything, everything that has information follows the Law of Accelerated Returns, this is why moore's law exists. Guns will be smart in 5 years and ammo ...will still be primitive? or will someone exploit this market and launch a whole new product.
PS high fps ammo would destroy current made low pressure .22LR guns, they will not be compatible.
