Can't Zero in my Scope on my AR15?

I have a Leupold 3x9x40 Long Rang rec on my AR 15 in 6.8 SPC that I can't seem to zero in. I have taken it off twice put it back on and taken it out to the range still no good. It hits far left I have it turn all the way and it's still about 6" off center at 25 yards. Any Ideas or maybe a local gunsmith in the Sacramento area that can help me out ?? It's a new scope and a new gun I was hoping to use it this deer season but I need to get this handled before I take it out thanks CalGunners !!!

what mounts do you have? i was having a problem with my bolt action where my scope was zero'd but the windage turret was maxed. i took the scope and mounts off, zero'd the adjustment knobs to where they were in the middle of the adjustment. then looked through the bore (i think you should still be able to do this on an ar if you take the upper off and the bcg out) and mounted the scope, turned the rings around, tightened one side ect until the crosshairs were on the same thing i was looking at through the bore. then go from there

Looks to me like a 6.8 likes a 38/250 yard zero. You need to make sure your mounts and alignment are correct. You need to set the elevation and windage to nuetral to start.

You took a shot at the target and you dialed the scope all the way to the right and it's still hitting to the left?

I will try what Altahick has suggested it won't hurt hopefully that takes care of it. I using Warn ultra high quick release mounts. The scope went from the box to the gun shot far left adjusted got closer to center but maxed out before center. It's those crappy mounts. I bet your scope is twisted. I would really suggest a one piece scope mount made specifically for AR's. And if you plan on taking it on and off something high quality like a Larue LT104.

And then you wouldn't have to put your rear sight in between. LOL.

What ammo? I had issues sighting my 6.8 in with Remington UMC/ Hornady varmint. Switched to fusion: bingo...

I was using Remington cheap stuff I do have hornady ammo also but haven't shot any of it through the gun. I have the same mounts on my 450 bushmaster no problems there same scope also.

Did you level the scope during mounting? If not, you'll always be chasing the zero.

the best way to mount glass on a flat-top AR upper is using a one-piece mount. there's a good comparison here.
