    Gun Shops, Mesa Arizona

Yes, I can use Google like everyone else but I'm looking for opinions from fellow CalGunners who have personally been to the gun shop(s) they suggest... Not moronic reviews on YellowPages.

So, I'm looking for gun shops to visit in the Mesa Arizona area.

I already have plans to stop by Bass Pro, Cabelas and maybe J&G, but does anyone have more suggestions for a quality shop (good stock and friendly to those of us behind enemy lines), that I should visit while I am in the area?

To be specific... I'm looking for ammo, mags and reloading supplies. Maybe some C&R also, depending on what my budget allows.

    Tactical:

I just returned from a week of work in Northern Arizona. Not sure if you will be up that far north but in Kingman, Bank Street Guns and AP Pawn each had a nice selection of C&Rs. J&G has some killer deals on mags right now. As far as ammo, I didn't see anything in Arizona that you can't get the same deal on here locally or on the Internet.

If you are driving through, Lake Havasu has five main gun shops, but Sams and R-Guns had impressive stocks of everything.

    Good luck.

Caswells is the only shop i like in the east valley. Reserve time with JR Robbie on the police simulator if you ever plan on carrying a gun.

If you go to Cabelas hit up AZfirearms in Avondale. They have more guns than anyone including oddball guns like Calico's, Anzio, and a $50,000 Gatling gun. They also have full autos.

J&G isn't all that close to Mesa, it's in Prescott. Stop by Dillon Precision in Scottsdale, just cuz. They probably won't have much in the way of ammo or components, but at least you can look at their machines. Lone Wolf in Glendale used to have the best prices in the state. I haven't been there in a long time though.

They always have quite a lot of C&R items at AJI Sporting Goods in Apache Junction. It's just east of Mesa and it's a mostly friendly staff. Not sure how they'll treat California residents since it's a lot of old timers that work there, but the selection is decent.

I would check out Scottsdale Gun Club. The most amazing gun store I have ever been to for tactical guns, gear and supplies, (not a hunting store).
Also check out US Auto, not a car parts store.

US AutoWeapons is incredible, I have never seen so many NFA droolworthy guns in one place.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will try and stop in at as many shops as possible while I'm there.

I ran into a small shop in Surprise the last time i was there at Christmas. They had just been open a few weeks but had mostly black rifle "stuff" and 6 - 8 various C&R rifles and pistols. I didn't buy anything then but introduced him to C&R licenses. He had to call it in to his ATF rep to have them explain what it was but after that he seemed OK about doing a deal.
