Morgan Fire caused by Target Shooting?

That's all we need right now:

Investigators with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection have determined the cause of the Morgan Fire on Mt. Diablo to be target shooting, although the investigation was ongoing.

I've seen one fire that was definitely sparked by dumb shooters shooting at rocks. It does happen. But lightning sparks far more fires.

The'll make a bigger stink about this than when a home owner weed eating his property stated a huge fire 10miles from me...

Another reason to keep lead bullets and not allow steel targets.

My club pulls all steel targets in late spring / early summer due to increased fire risk.

Sparks happen so I ALWAYS bring an E tool and a large extinguisher when we shoot.

My first night shoot in the Mojave surprised me when I saw sparks from Copper Jacketed 9mm. Just copper and lead.

But a fire from a legal activity is an unfortunate event regardless if it is a dirt bike that falls over, a quad or truck that stops in grass or many other legal activity.

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
