I put in an order with Snipercountrypx for the Rem 700 in 338 Lapua Magnum. Whenever it shows up, that is. The owner ( or Mgr) Scott answered my e - mail, took my info & was all around patient and helpful from the start. Seems like a very good guy to deal with.GOA Member & SAF Life MemberComment

Can I shine your shoes and wash your cars for money sir?Well...wow...lets see....I have a buddy who collects old car batts. once a week from small auto shops.
He then takes them to a recycle center here in town and makes about $400-600 a month for 20hrs of work a month. This is his extra pocket money.
Known another guy who lives in a RV park and grows fresh herbs in small, raised garden beds and sells them at the Farmers Market and makes $200-300 a month doing that.
The gal who does my sewing for my cover business also does simple alterations on clothes...mainly "flipping" collers on shirts...I had never heard of this before....and makes $200+ a month doing that.
I know 2-3 people/couples who hit the yard sales every weekend and then re-sale the stuff on ebay. One couple quite their "real jobs" and do it full time. They told me they make over $100K a year doing that!
So you see.....there is all kinds of things you can do....but you have to be willing to do it and think outside the box.
Take care,StanComment

Why bother with blueprinting the action? I doubt that it will buy you any noticeable accuracy with that particular rifle and its going to cost quite a bit. Installing a stock (bedding it), trigger, and optics isnt hard either and you could save a lot of money doing it yourself. Nice rifle man, give us a range report when you can. Im in the middle of building a custom and its adding up pretty fast.

That is what I am building ( surgeon action, bartlein barrel, mcm a5) but im doing all the gunsmithing myself so its going to be right at $3000 bucks including 500 dtac bullets, reamer, bipod, badger dbm, and some other stuff. I was soooooooo close to buying a 700 milspec but i decided to go with a custom mainly because i love machining and can save a little money doing it myself. I assume your rifle came with the x mark trigger? If you decide to sell that trigger let me know. I might be interested in it. Once again congrats on the truly fine rifle.I thought about building one (or having it built actually)...and like you...it started to REALLY add up.
I was going to use a Surgeon action, Mcgowen barrel w/brake, AICS stock, etc.
But....I want to buy a .338...either a Dakota Arms LongBow or a AI AW.
So this is my low budget "build" and then save my pennies for the big gun.
I was able to put this rifle together for right at $2000.00....no optics of coarse.
Thats is with my gunsmith doing the work.
Your right...BPing the action is probable a bit much...but why not?
And again...I agree...I can put the stock on,and install the trigger myself but for the little bit of money I am being charged for it I will let him do it...and he then stands behind the work.
Take care

So does Amber drive that lime green Isuzu truck around with the rolling billboard?
Thats the only one I've seen up here in Redding.
Nice rifle you have coming Stan, who's doing the work on it? My favorite gun smith up here is Larry Mears who works out of Olde West although I haven't had him do any projects in a number of years now.
I have a 700 pss in .308 with a Mark IV M1 16x that I couldn't be happier with and the action is all stock. I'm old school and don't like variable power scopes on high precision rifles

Good choice. Don't waste money on blueprinting it until it needs to be rebarreled. You really won't see a difference with a factory tube, even if it is a 5r. Use the money you save to get a 5.5-22 nightforce instead of the loopy. Its a much better scope for not too much more dinero. Good luck with it!GAP Team Shooter 5Comment
