    Stupid question...

What is the shelf life for ammo if stored in a dry place here in Socal. Does it depend on the brand of ammo?

    Thanks

well, i have some 30-06 ammo from korean war surplus. I have fired about 200 rounds of it so far and i have not had any bad ones. I still have about 800 more to go thru. I have also shot some....500 rounds of 9mm ammo from 1970's. They were packed loosely in a ammo can. They all fired, but couple of times, i had a jam. I'm kind of curious of the responses you will get.

As long as it is stored properly, it shouldn't really have a shelf life. Just make sure it isn't corroded.

I have six box's of 12 gage from the early 80's that I'm going to put through my new Mossy. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I recently used up some 38 special that's been sit'n around in the garage. It was about 15 years old and it shot fine. I keep my ammo in those green ammo cans out in the garage.
