How do you do a proper bump/drop test?

I just finished installing a Yo Dave trigger spring on my CZ 455. I used the 3rd thickest spring in the kit with no shim added.

I want to make sure the gun is safe. I've tried dropping the gun (butt end pointed down) onto the carpet from a height of 6". No problems there. However, at 1 foot, the gun goes off. Is this normal?

How do you perform a thorough safety test of your rifle?

A modern firearm will not fire if in proper working order when dropped.

If you can drop your firearm and the firing mechanism releases- no es bueno.

If the rifle has a synthetic stock or a rubber butt pad, cock the gun (unloaded gun) and bang the butt on the ground. If it fires when you bang the butt on the ground it's probably gonna fire if dropped. That's my test and it looks like you tried that and it fires when there's enough force. If it's an adjustable trigger make it a little stiffer and try again until your happy. Always using proper gun handling skills will greatly reduse the chance of a unintentional discharge.
