    Freaking great "Quote"...

"We shed a lot of blood for this country. We are not going to give up our country for a mere X on a ballot. How can a ball point pen fight with a gun?" the Herald, a government mouthpiece, quoted Mugabe as saying.

"Bush said the U.S. would work with Britain and others to make sure the runoff poll is conducted to international standards."

this is a joke, right. someone jokingly took an Onion article and put it in Yahoo news code, right?

It just proves that with out a means to defend your rights you give the right to vote to the government. And if they don't want you voting, well TS.

Where the gun deals with the war of the physical, the pen deals with the war of the mind and ideals. Without mass public support, the gun cannot contain, nor keep control beyond the reach of the barrel. The pen can reach clear across the planet.

What is far mightier, is fear and greed in terms of mass control. The communist countries have perfected fear in the form of every citizen is a spy for the state, or at least thats what the public fears, and their are usually enough government sympathizers and those willing to receive money or favors to tell on their neighbor, to keep the masses from speaking their mind in fear of reprisal.

Yet, even Romania was able to over come a brutal dictatorship because the ideal of freedom, and the will of the people to prevail, which was greater than the gun and fear.

However, the gun will always have a decidedly important value because the fact is, you can't overcome without it. Freedom is not free, it is always paid for in blood by those willing to stand up and take it by force if needed.

Those who would advocate gun control, are either poor students of history and governments, or they are sympathizers in one respect or the other, to the direction of control and the governments wishes.
