My father is an LEO and let us say that I want to take some of his guns to the range to shoot with some friends. All of his magazine's he has hold more then 10 rounds. Could I possibly get charged with a felony for having and shooting out of his magazines even if I do not really own them?

I am of the understanding that I had to possess them prior to 2000. Finding them on the way to the range would pretty much kill that concept.
Is that not correct? (I did double check on the Magazine thread)

It's a lot of different things......
1- most clear legal... owning prior to the ban.
2- 'finding' a magazine though a poor excuse would technically be legal...
3- importing, manufacturing, loaning, giving/selling ***ARE ALL ILLEGAL*** however 'possesion' is not. Though there have been a lot of harrassment/confiscations going on of late for possession, and some counties?/cities? labeling them a 'public nuisance' which allows confiscation.

As a criminal defendant, you are not technically obligated to prove anything. The prosecutor is instead charged with proving beyond a reasonable doubt that you imported, manufactured, obtained it by loan, or otherwise received/sold it after the ban.
But nuisance is a whole other matter...sigpic

you are exempt due to the fact as soon as you say who gave you the magazines no other LEO is going to arrest you.
Royalty has it's privileges.
Oh and loaning is not illegal, it's RESTRICTED. There is a difference. Large Capacity Magazines are not illegal in Ca., they are restricted with exemptions.Comment
