    Invisible Security Measures

Where I work, I have access to those invisible ink etching stickers that are applied to new cars in case the car is stolen and parted out.

The sticker is applied to the vehicle in strategic areas, the chemical etches into the clear coat and paint, and 7 days later the sticker is peeled off.

The ink that is etched into the clear coat and paint remains and is only visible under black light. It shows a toll free number and serial number.

I am wondering if these stickers would be of any use to law enforcement should any of my guns be stolen? I was thinking it could come in handy in case maybe the criminal filed the serial number. And they would never know the invisible imprinting is even there.

The problem that occurs to me is how do you get the word out to whomever finds the weapon to look for what you hid?

When you file the police report, let them know it is etched in such and such places with invisible ink with such and such serial number that is visible under black light.

Interesting? How much would something like that cost?

          Well,

The stickers don't cost me anything at work. The stickers are given to the dealership in hopes that the recovery service will be sold to the customer.

Of course I wouldn't be registering with the recovery service since i highly doubt they recover weapons.

I am just wondering if there needs to be any additional identification sources for law enforcement?

If the serial number was removed, you still would not get your firearm back.

A department might give you back all except for the receiver.

Try a few to see if they hold up to gun solvents, sweat and sunblock.
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
            (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

              Hmmm.

Good point. I completely forgot about that aspect it.

Well, it's not gonna cost me a thing. It can't possibly hurt anything. And even if there is no benefit, I can just forget about it and since it is invisible it won't affect anything.
