Blackthorne AR-10 Uppers

Anyone familiar with this company?

My dilemma is doing the rough math its cheaper to buy an assembled upper vs building one. BUT the problem is I will still have to change parts out on what I buy like this

How difficult is it to make changes say with the hand guard? I want a rail they dont sell a complete upper the way I would want. There is one with a very long rail that extends past the gas block which to me is extra weight and money. I assume and those here can correct me I can get a shorter rail hand guard that will go to/ end right past the gas block?!

Help me out not sure what to do

I already have a stripped upper b/c Ive been concerned about availability but like i said doing the numbers its cheaper to just buy one completed than build, not to mention barrels are still scarce. I should note Im wanting an upper with 16in barrel

If you're still willing to even consider dropping any money on a vulcan/blackthorne/hesse product after doing some reading up about problems with them, you deserve everything you get.

That company is 100% garbage. Anyone claiming otherwise is either a paid shill, or doesn't know any better.

Don't waste your money. I did back in 2009 (AR15 upper) but eventually corrected the problem. I had to dremel away the rear curve on the upper to make it fit.

Eventually I also figured out that the slot to align the barrel was not centered, causing me to have the windage all the way to one side because the front sight was tilted, just like they mentioned with the gas block in the video here. That couldn't be fixed so I ultimately bought a new stripped upper and rebuilt it myself.

Now that it's no longer a Blackthorne in my side, it's lovely!

Well, when you change your company name back and forth 3-4 times in the span of what, a decade? You find new people who haven't investigated your business and don't realize it's the same company till after the fact.

Then you've got the people who ask and read the threads like BMartin1776 did, but come to the conclusion that they're so desperate they buy the blackthorne product anyway. Common excuses for this include "But they're the only ones in stock" or "You all must just be haters" or "Well the satisfied people never complain, so that must mean they sell TONS!"

You're probably better off with a Sota Arms upper than Blackthorne. I dont own one but I read that for a budget build, its GTG.

Which is way better than where you would be if you bought the Blackthorne. I'm just glad I was able to salvage the good bits out of what I had. Just don't see how they can keep up the scam for long even with all the name-changing.
