    Will SB53 kill ranges????

I know that many states have an instant background check system and do not have the 10 day wait.

Will the Ammunition buyers card background check kill ranges?

Many people show up at the local indoor range, buy ammo, buy targets and rent a lane.

How do you think AB53 will impact ranges?
How many people will stop shooting due to
Increased ammo price- no Internet - 10% ammo tax
Ammo buyers card and waiting period for background check to be run
Difficulty of finding a live scan facility?
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

pretty sure the whole idea is to discourage exercising 2A. Review the "requirements" of the law fee's ect.

It will definitely affect ranges that make their real money on ammo sales and gun rentals.

My local range does neither of those, so business as usual I'm sure. Only thing you can buy at my range is a soda and that's on the honor system from the fridge in the club house.

This is an interesting question. I am going to pose this question to my own club near Sacramento. They do, at this time, sell ammunition (but do not rent firearms).

It would appear from the text of the bill that they'd have to get an FFL, and a license to sell ammunition from DOJ - plus keep and transmit the data on their sales as required by law. I'll find out if they have any plans to do it...

All the indoor ranges I shoot at don't make a lot of money off me except for the the number of trips I make per month (one or two). I bring my own gun, ammo, glasses & muffs and all I buy from them is the lane and paper target. They do make a lot of money from the folks who come it and rent/buy the whole deal; probably $30 to $50 per person. They are just casual shooters who will just find something else to do if this new (proposed, not signed yet) law passes and theres no provision for this.
It's really going to hurt a lot of ranges business models and may put some out of business all together. All done by design.

Another question would be are they going to enforce the ammo law by checking your ammo "permit" and making sure your are "licensed" to carry it?
Will you be ratted out to LE if you don't? The whole thing is lame....

Yes, I think they will. And by "they," I mean DOJ. At Sac Valley some weeks ago, two of them were walking the lines and looking at mags and for bullet buttons. Do remember they just had a windfall of $24M from the DROS fund to expand this adventure. I think they intend to use it.

I've seen many new shooters show up at the range and spend money on everything from ammo to gun rentals. I'm sure such a new restriction on ammo purchases will hit many ranges very hard because many customers who bring no ammo will have to walk away, most of those people won't even bother getting a permit.
