How much does Big 5 charge for ppt?

I have 3 Big 5 stores closer than I have any gun stores and wanted to know how much they charged. Also, does Sportsman's Warehouse in Rocklin do PPT's?

Turners is only SoCal right? I'm outside Sacramento. I'm guessing Big 5 won't let you ship online orders to them as your ffl though, right?

Yes, Turners is in So Cal. Be aware that Big 5 WILL NOT do PPT's of handguns, just rifles and shotguns. Also call around because some Big 5 stores don't do PPT's at all. Shipping long guns to an FFL is not considered a PPT.

For a PPT you're better of going to a gun store. Wild Sports/ J&G / The Gun Room/ RCGE / Badger Johns / Cordova Shooting Center / etc. They all charge $35.

Since they have a firearms license aren't they supposed to do ppt's at all their stores as per California law? I thought I read that somewhere on here.

Stores that don't sell handguns aren't required to allow PPT transfers of handguns. In general yes all FFL's are supposed to do PPT's. Sporting good stores generally don't do PPT's so you might be there a LONG time as they process all the paperwork. I have never had anyone come in Sports Authority for one and have no idea if corporate would even allow us to do so as they have additional paperwork for everything.

You can most certainly try to PPT there. It may work out. Call them and check before wasting gas and time . What area are you in?

A FFL MUST do PPTs, it is the law. But, since Big 5 does not sell handguns they do not have to do PPTs for handguns. Some FFLs only sell long guns and as long as they never sell or transfer a hand gun they don't have to do a PPT for hand guns or do the HSC or Affidavit of Deminstration. But, Big 5 MUST do PPTs for long guns. Corperate policy does not excempt them ftom doing PPTs.

You're right. It was FUD. The guy I spoke to at at the first store said that they don't do them, but when I called another store to ask, he said that you can do PPT's of long guns at any Big 5 store.

That could get interesting I suppose if someone walked in to do a PPT of a long gun and was refused.

I agree. Luckily hasn't happened. If it does I don't want to be on the clock!

Considering I am the only person working there who owns firearms and knows the difference between a .22 and a 30.06...you can only imagine how knowledgeable my fellow employees are. The training is virtually non-existent . So yes, it definitely would be intriguing to see!
