    AR-15 on a Motorcycle?

Well - I just finished my 80% and I'm ready to rock and roll!
Only problem is, I don't have a car. My bike is my daily driver rain or shine, and as much of a PiTA as it is for mundane things like going to school or grocery shopping I can tell its really going to suck for going to the range.

That said are there any other biker / shooters out there - and how do you manage?

From reading the Calguns FAQ I got that its A-OK on a bike, any kind of container will do (soft or hard) but because it is an "Assault weapon" it needs to a locking container of some kind.

Since I'm on a bike I'll need to carry it "back pack style" - and not shoulder slung like a gear bag. Ideally I would like if it hand a little more room for a pistol or possibly even a shotgun should I ever choose to 3 gun. It would also be nice if it was a little more discrete and didn't scream "I HAVE A RIFLE!" - to avoid as much attention from the authorities as possible

http://www.eberlestock.com/Gunslinger%20M%20Series.htm was looking like a winner - but it seems its not lock-capable.

TLDR are there any quality bags or cases that come to mind for bike transporting a rifle?
    Thanks in advance,

I would look for a guitar shaped soft case. I just saw one a few minutes ago on the CG marketplace.

Are you saying your rifle qualifies as a legally defined assault weapon?

I actually have a Washburn case I don't use sitting right next to me - not locking but that could be fixed.

And by George its almost silly enough to work - I just checked and my shotgun fits down the "neck" and my AR should fit if broken down on each side of the body of the guitar case. Still with enough room in the neck for my handgun.

If I did a good job with the foam inserts that might be the ticket - now I would just look like "stupid motorcycle guitar guy"; which is quite a bit better that "stupid motorcycle gun guy".

No sorry - its a legal 16"+ Bullet button AR.

I'm semi-new to California and thought that just by virtue of being a magazine fed, centerfire, semi auto it already gets put into Californias AW category - and then is put under further scrutiny from there to be deemed as legal / illegal.

If this doesn't qualify as an AW - and thus doesn't need a lock, I could probably get away with using my old ruck sack just fine.

I really can't wait to move back to WA state where thing are alot simpler

I do the same thing once in awhile to save gas and get in a ride on the bike at the same time.

your ar is not considered a assualt weapon right now. look for one of those rectangular gun case and break it down.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

I have one of these Condor Transporter I've used it on my motorcycle many times, and even fit a couple handguns in there too. I know you said you weren't looking for a shoulder sling, but I've found it stays on my back very well. There are others, but I picked this up for $60 and have been pretty impressed by the quality.

I've transported an AR with upper and lower separated in a plastic bow case (looks just like a rifle case, just shorter) bungeed across the back seat of my GL1800.

Nobody gave it a second look.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

The Larue Covert case was another one I was considering. But it didn't seem quite as "covert" and it was twice as much money. Sweet case though!

I've ridden from Oakland to San Jose with a mosin nagant locked in a soft case, slung across my back. It worked okay.

If I had to take my AR on my bike, I would lock the lower in my side case (I ride an old BMW, huge panniers) and stick the upper in a backpack or something.
