they've got a lot of tanks to pick from to rehab. My son visited this junkyard in Iraq last year where their stuff was all collected up. He says that they now have Humvee's just like the U.S. Army is issued.

the ones than i can see are actually looking pretty sharp
a big dfference from a few years ago when it looked like they were handed some uniforms that didnt fit lol.

hopefully with all that sweet gear they will be able to start doing everything without our help

Well guy, considering those are the Iraqi Army forces, AKA, OUR ALLIES, Im glad to se them with better equipment than theyve had in the past. Its nice to see them in up-armored HMMWVs and T series tanks instead of the pick-up and bongo trucks they had to roll in the past.

I personally trained, fought alongside and bled with the Iraqi Army Soldiers, buried their Soldiers and had them accompany me to bury ours. Id fight and die with most of them before most of the "Americans" I meet on a daily basis.

              +1 on that CavTrooper.

as some here will say. the Iraqi army is corrupt and has many desertions. well they are not perfect. they have come a long way. and i was there in 05 and 06 and they were getting better equipment. they had uparmored HMMWV's so now they have M16's. hopefully they will be able to take care of it.

a friend of mine at work just got back and he tought them maintenance and they have no clue as to what that is. but give them time and they will learn. i have never seen a people that are so resiliant and innovative than the Iraqi's.

if we see this through we will have a true ally in Iraq. it will take a long time. and our commitment to them is nessecarry to ensure success. and yes there is scum in that country and for the most part they want take out the garbage.

+1 on what cav and chris said. my last memories of them where from back in 2004 and even then the dedicated ones were decent. Now that I am in Iraq again there are a few bad apples here and there but they seem to be a completely different army. higher morale, more pride in themselves, and the dedication to the cause is way more apperrent.

Well trained and disciplined troops, why not give them the equipment to fight terrorism? Having just returned from Al Kut, I can attest first hand that the Iraqi's "get it" a hell of a lot better than many Americans.

By your signature, I see that you are encouraging all of us to heap money on the Red Chinese, who are doing their damnedest to arm terrorists and countries that want us dead . Thanks for nothing.

An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself...A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."......Cicero

I totally agree, give the good guys the tools they need (along with good and consistent leadership) and they can get the job done.

Those new High Quality, Properly equipped and lead Iraqi Military units are starting to make a difference, too bad there are not another 100,000 of them ready for action yet. Maybe one day, since Iraq needs internal stability with their own fighting forces with our aid, advisement and training.

I hate to say it, but many of the products we use (even some US military products) are from China or mfg'd / assembled with products mfg'd by Chinese companies. Sorry, but that is the honest truth.

The more well-equipped, well-trained Iraqi troopers out there taking care of their country, the more of ours come home.
                              Good job.
