Hello, I'm curious to know if any in this forum ever had shoulder surgery only to re-injure that same shoulder after firing a high caliber rifle,e.g. 45-70, 300 win mag., etc..., or shotgun?

In addition has anyone's shooting techniques, e.g. positioning, etc..., changed after shoulder surgery?

I am a physical therapist and have seen hundreds and hundreds of all types of shoulder surgeries. Your question is quite vague as there are many types of shoulder surgeries so if you have a specific surgery in question I would be happy to give you an answer. But in general the only type that should be much of an issue would be a posterior(back of shoulder) labral or capsular repair, even then the stock should not be on your humerus (arm bone) but shared between the acromion and clavicle so you are pretty safe. A separated shoulder or fixed broken clavicle could be painful but after a good healing you should be fine. But all that is very general. If you gave me a specific surgery I could tell you more, but overall you should be able to come back fine in time from most any surgery.

Had a couple shoulder surgeries and have fired shotguns a year later with no ill effects. Proper stock placement is key though
