BG Check
He should probably know...for the most part
Cant have current Restraining order
no Felony on record
Court never declared him "Crazy"
Cant be on parole
Im not sure I covered them all, but I think that covers it.Originally posted by dexter9659Its all the nitrogen in the cat poo that gives the high performance. Im sure Hornady will soon be coming out with a similar load. -
Since it's $20 to check, I would avoid it. If there is no felony conviction, a misdemeanor involving domestic violence, or a restraining order, just go through the Dealers DROS.sigpic

Most likely he is prohibited for 10 years since the conviction.

Depends on how the case was concluded. I would suggest filling out a PFEC (Personal Firearms Eligibility Check) For $20 it gives you the definite answer no guessing. I know from personal experience that contacting an attorney is just about worthless unless it was the original attorney that handled the case and even then ????Comment

The PFEC might take a few weeks, but it's supposed to be the same background that they do for an actual purchase. What they spit back at you is whether or not you're a prohibited possessor. If you are a "prohibited" person, then you'd need to find out why... and for how long. The list of prohibiting misdemeanors is out there. Just don't forget the Federal list either. Since I'm not a "prohibited" person, I don't know if a PFEC would also say when/if you would be expected to regain your firearms rights.
I'd say to go ahead and do the PFEC. If you try to DROS a firearm and you're a prohibited person... oops, you've just committed another crime...
As I see it, it's $20 for a Firearms background check and peace of mind that you're not committing another crime in the process.Comment

good thing you said that or I wouldn't know to stop my friend from buying a firearm to see if he is good to buy one. I would have thought at worst he gets a no and pays the 10% restocking feeComment
