I considered purchasing a Star Firestar last year. They're well built guns ,and for the most part reliable from what I learned in background research. The fly in the ointment is that Star has been out of business for over a decade,so parts are VERY hard to come by-and they have to be imported from Spain.I ultimately passed on the purchase for that reason.

I have a Star S 380 and it's a fun little gun. Years ago at a gun show I bought 1000 rounds of reloads. Guy at the Miwall booth comments "friends don't let friends shoot 380" Damn should have bought 5000 more. Would have made bank. I was able to score 12 more mags at $7each from Cdnn. The only hiccup I have had is to replace an extractor. But as mentioned parts are drying up.

The Star 30 is a tank. It is the military version of the M28 (I think). It was the carry weapon of the Spanish Police. They went out of business many years ago, so parts are hard to come by. They are typically known for being rugged accurate and durable. There have been reports of thousands upon thousands of rounds being fired from Stars.

I bought one back in the 90's and still have it. I hadn't shot it for a while and when I took it back out it started stovepiping and had feed issues. Long story short, it just started not liking 115 gr. ammo. But it does like 124 gr all day long. And the gun is very accurate.

If I had a chance I would buy another one just for parts. So, if you pass, let me know. I love my Star.

I had a Firestar Plus. Great gun. Never gave me grief. I would buy another in a minute. Mags are available at gunaccessories.com.

Stars were the best of the Spanish pistols---all loooonnnggg out of production---that means little in the way of parts and spare mags. The Star model 30 was an updated model 28---both all steel and built like tanks. My shooting buddy had a model 28 and he shot it a lot---never needed parts, good thing as there are few to be had. Personally, I've shot both the 28 and 30---really nice pistols, but heavy---if you can buy it for something like $200-250 and it comes with some extra mags---I would go for it...

What will you guys pay for a star 9mm model 30 with 3 15 round mags and 300 rounds of ammo (2 100 WWB AND 2 50 FEDERAL)?
