In 2002, I took the 250 class with Jeff Cooper as Range Master. In 2006 I took General Rifle (270). And in 2011 I took Intermediate Handgun (350). Here's an article I wrote on the 350 class.

Gunsite is one of the very best schools. Their facilities are first class as is their instruction. A class at Gunsite is a great experience and well worth the time, effort and expense.

Nice report and pictures mr Fiddletown . I am curious about how well did your it looked like a black S class, handle the dirt road ? We drove in my buddy's SUV and it was no problem . Was not sure how my longer lower sedan would do on that road.

Janelle Cooper looked very well, was she active at the store or working ?
I had the pleasure of meeting both Col and Mrs at a seminar put on by the late Bill Cooper .

Check with CG'er Bert Gamble, He did their shotgun course and was going to do the pistol course.

Anyone been to 350 pistol at Gunsite?

I love the Gunsite experience. I did attend the shotgun, and it was awesome. I have trained at Frontsight, and with Gordon Gray of GOFAST, and Gunsite was the most fun and informative. You just can't do the things they do anywhere else.

Instructors are top notch, and very professional.

I am still hoping to go to the 350 pistol, but don't know if I will make it this year.

I have been to Gunsite and it is very good just like other posters have said. The coat is not so high if you remember that you will be working on ranges with appearing and disappearing targets...going through 1-2 shoot houses (nice ones) and out door simulators. Plus very high instructor/student ratios. Sign up now , don't wait - or ekes you will just be a year older them you do. It will change your life.

Thank you. My car was a CLS63 (2008), and it handled the dirt road fine -- I just stayed at or a little below the posted speed limit, watched the road well and handled the worst patches appropriately (i. e., avoided them or slowed down enough).

She's a very sharp lady. AFAIK she doesn't work at the school at all (although here home is on the property). She's active running the Jeff Cooper Legacy Foundation.

I met them for the first time in 2002 when I took 250. Col Cooper found out that I was interested in auto racing and invited me up to Then Sconce the Sunday after the class to watch the Monaco Grand Prix with him.

The other trick to remember is not to follow too closely.

Agreed. I didn't think to mention it because I was somehow managing to get on the road early enough that there was very little or no traffic.

But 9mmepiphany is absolutely right about allowing a lot of distance between cars. The debris kicked up by the car ahead of you can really chip the hell out of your paint job.

Thanx for the good info on road leading into gunsite . My 11 DTS will have no problem .
I have admired the sleek CLS from a distance. Is the 63 for 6.3 liter?

Any recommendations on what time of year is best ?
