Sportsman's Guide, new policy?

Have seen past posts about them not shipping ammo to CA but now they are not shipping any "assault rifle" parts to CA zip codes. Items such as barrels, LPKs and stocks. Had a few items in my cart from a few weeks ago and pretty sure there was no restriction then. Ammo on the site shows no such restrictions.

California is GREAT at weaving a web of different local laws.

A great example- where can you wear a 3", 3 1/2" or 4" folder?
State law is clear but then cities pass more restrictive local laws.

A lawsuit was brought against those selling magazine parts to CA.
All the sellers will get to spend 100k to get the suit dismissed.

LA city has different ammo requirements.

Another thread on cal guns is about all the folks on the forum who will not join nor donate funds to the NRA.

Sportsman guide is on my no shopping list as they have been way too restrictive on CA since around 1994-1995.


I don't blame them but I will not order from them.

That policy has been in place for more than a few years. One of a number of reasons why I will no longer deal with them and their non-help to Californians behind enemy lines.
Which is a shame, because they do get some cool/weird stuff on occasion.

Example....They won't even ship a scope mount for an M1a to California for cryin' out loud.

That has been their Anti-2nd Amendment policy for several years now, since at least 2002 when Ebay led the way on autonomously self-banning legal to own in CA, and legal to ship to CA parts.

Now days, if Ebay doesn't do it, they won't either. Two worthless peas (of shat) in a pod.

And now that they are charging CA buyers tax, I don't see the real savings anyway. They send me their catalogs non-stop, but I can't recall the last time I orderd from them. Must have been around 2005 or so after the sunset of the Clinton bill. Nothing since.

In any case, I like looking at pictures of things in the catalog for products I can order elsewhere or for price comparison, and they make great impromptu gun cleaning pads, spoon rests, and coffee-table coasters in a pinch.

I noticed this a while back as well. I don't remember the exact product but I called them out on stuff that I've seen at gun shows and LGS that they will not ship to CA. I sent them an email basically asking why and that if they would not fulfill all of my orders that they will get none. I got a response about the complexity of CA gun laws blah blah blah. I am now happy to spend a few more dollars and support my LGS.
