    Firearm Insurance Question.

I was thinking about getting Insurance for my firearms in the case of theft or natural disaster. I'v been browsing the NRA endorsed insurance and some others but can't decide. Can anyone recommend a company or an experience with one and how many of you guys have insurance on your guns? Cheers

My insurance is through my renters insurance with State Farm. IIRC, they cover up to $10k in guns and if I want more coverage I have to pay something along the lines of $1 for each $100 of additional coverage. If I were to go that route, we would individually list each firearm, otherwise the $10k coverage is a "blanket" that doesn't have a physical inventory of guns associated with it.

Friend and I went to the Monterey Aquarium and she made the fatal mistake of putting a penguin hat on when I had a camera in my hand. The pic cracks me up each time.

10k, not itemized.. I was quite amazed that they didn't ask for an itemization when I mentioned 10k of firearms. Out of everything in my collection there's really only one piece that's not replaceable due to our Governator.

Get the NRA insurance. A firearm rider on your home insurance policy might be a little cheaper, but the NRA policy covers your guns outside the home also.

Renters insurance through State Farm on a multi-residence dwelling with $50k total coverage runs a whole whopping $180 a year. I have a $500 deductible and this covers me if anything is stolen, the building burns, collapses, etc. (I think I'm SOL if it floods though)

Panguin is single, but unfortunately lives in Mississippi now. Come to think of it, I really should move out there, she works as a waitress but can afford to buy herself a nice house and new Mercedes. WTF?

My AllState policy covers my firearms outside the house. They had to be scheduled though.

My Ameriprise renter's covers roughly the same as everyone else's, once you go beyond their anonymous max (I think it's $6000 worth?) you have to start scheduling your guns at a reasonable rate to get more protection.

There's another thread around here from about 8 months back (??) where other people posted their rates as well, and the NRA rates came in very, very favorable. It seemed like they have one of the best offerings out of all the choices around.

My homeowners policy covers my guns up to 15 000$. so basically if someone steals them I get 15 000$ which is a hellof a lot more than I paid for them. Its strictly to cover my guns. another part of the policy covers the household stuff

I'm guessing it's a special rider that isn't just a part of the homeowner's umbrella coverage. You have to itemize each gun and probably show proof of value or at least some kind of estimate.

                            Bingo!

If you're coverage is unscheduled you can just say it was 2 Glocks 2 ARs and a partride in a pear tree.

If you're scheduled, you list on your policy 1 Glock 17, 1 Glock 19, etc etc.
