    1911 Frame

    QUESTION:

Can someone in CA purchase a 1911 frame and then build themselves a pistol? I thought I heard somewhere, that it's not legal.

    Thoughts....?

The issue with PPT (besides finding someone selling a frame) is that you can't do the Handgun Safety Demo.

I have purchased and sold 4 or 5 1911 frames over the last few years and not had an issue...but it could be a problem depending on the FFL.

Can't do it...not on the Safe Handgun Roster and you cannot SSE a bare frame.

Have to find one via PPT already in CA.

Have to be through PPT. I haven't had problem going that route. Only problem is finding a bare frame in CA, let alone at a decent price.

Yup. Has to be a PPT and in Cali.

I have bought and sold many stripped frames.

It is not a problem getting this done if BOTH the buyer and seller have Cali ID.

These are sold as "OTHER" on the paperwork.
              In essence.
              Not a pistol.
              Not a rifle.
              Not a shotgun.

              You buying it as "OTHER"
