home built target frames "pics inside"

I have been trying to shoot paper targets that have not been attached too a box. So I built target frames that I can quickly disassemble and put together with no tools and while being able to fit it in my car with ammo and rifles. It also has strips of wood with a bolt to hold down the cardboard so i don't have to staple it to the wood allowing longer use of the frame as long as I don't shoot it. anyways here are the pics.

I do the same design, but with PVC pipes. I don't use and glue so you can dismantle and stow. Those are very nice.

Very nice construction, but try not to hit those bolts and washers with anything high power. You will most likely find them 20yrds down range with a gaping hole in your frame. Also, you will want to use caution if you do any close quarter drills with pistols, again those bolts/washers can cause back splash of lead/copper if hit.

I wanted to stay away from pvc because of if that gets hit and shatters and somehow I get hit with it i'de rather pull splinters vs pieces of pvc out of me. Plus it was simpler. and the wood on bottom going across lets the cardboard rest on it.

I'm Building some out of PVC this weekend, wanted to stay away from metal for the above reasons. And you shouldnt be shooting at the targets at point blank range, would lessen the chances of getting PVC shards in you.

i have built a few stands myself, PVC doesn't quite cut it for me. if i build something out of 2x4s it will take a good beating. with PVC if it picks up a ricochet or a direct hit...now you have a one legged swinging target! I don't use any bolts or washers, i use 1 5/8s drywas screws...they work perfect!

PS: to attach targets use a good old staple gun!!

we use just plain wood screws to assemble our stands at the range i work at. and plywood for a backing. the wood screws are not enough to send pieces back at you. the plywood gets chewed up pretty fast tho. we have staplers to attach paper targets.

I don't use screws due to i want to assemble it really quick with no tools, and use cardboard to go across the empty space, so I can staple or tape my targets on. and wood ease of repair ect.

The good thing about the Box 'o Truth stands is, unless you're a REALLY crappy shot, you won't be hitting the PVC base. Stray shots, if any, hit the wooden posts (and those sell for $0.40 ea.). Staple your cardboard targets to the wood, and have at it. None of the PVC parts are glued together, so in case something does get hit, you can replace it w/ another 16" piece lickety-split. Whole thing can be disassembled for easy transport. Beauty, eh?

Looks nice, but a lot of work when you can buy a complete stand with cardboard and 2 targets from Angeles for $4.

But its not as cool if I didnt put any effort into it. plus to buy the wood, screws and wingnuts to build 3 of them cost 16 bucks. yes I may have saved a bit but I built these for being I know they will fit in my car. now only if I can build me some steel plate targets.....
