    Gun Storage in Antigun States

This may well have been discussed before. As a new member here and a lifelong (40+ yrs) gunowner, I have no doubt about that. I'm also a born and raised, lifelong Californian (mea culpa). We all know that the state is becoming more brazen in its continual war against private firearms ownership.

Here in CA, we have a new barrier. It's called 'Delayed'. No due process; no recourse, just 'Delayed'.

What might be our recourse? The only road I see is litigation. OK. Fine. But that is not without risk; great risk for (probably) little reward.

IN THE MEANTIME: Where do we store our guns? We damnwellknow that the warriorcops (not withstanding Posse Comitatus) will be at our doors dare we challenge the ultimate and final authority of the State of California.

I damnwell intend on holding onto my guns. That cannot be assured if they are at my residence. I need a place to store them until enough (other) people wake up.

    Where? And how?

Assuming you tear them all down first, rent a safe deposit box at a bank in a neighboring state, and store all your receivers there. The rest of the parts aren't illegal.

When I was in college and not allowed to store guns there, I had a B of A safe deposit box, which I kept my pistols in. I would imagine you could cram quite a few AR lowers into one of those.

If they can get a search warrant for your home they could probably get a search warrant for any place that you store them that leaves a paper trail.

Good luck getting a search warrant to look for an item in another state which is LEGAL there.

If it came to that, I'd just move my stuff to a relative's house in another state, or buy a small place in AZ/NV.

your best bet is to lose all of your guns in a horrific boating accident when the time comes....

I did not know that. Thank you. Under current conditions that may be a secure temporary location. However if/when conditions escalate to SHTF level, I suspect federal police agencies will 'secure' such known locations and confiscate everything there. For the purposes of this discussion stealth seems to be the appropriate course. NOTE: I am talking about legal firearms lawfully acquired and possessed by sane, non drug addicted American who are not felons.

I don't know how safe firearms might be behind drywall and between studs in a house/garage/office, but it's an idea. Another place, although offsite and more difficult to secure and retrieve, might be buried (temporarily) in sealed containers within the boundaries of a national forest. Use GPS to mark the location. The state will need GPS for military/police purposes, so it should remain alive and well (unless they are able to manipulate frequencies) If the state were really determined to find any such stashes, ground penetrating radar from the air would probably find them.

Local storage facilities would be a last ditch measure I think. Any other ideas?

The true paranoids suggest getting scrap metal car parts and bury those around your buried cache. And above your cache. That way the metal detectors find those and decide there's nothing there they want. Buried stuff is the only way to avoid loosing your stuff. Any kind of building, like a bank or a gun store, they'll be found.

So what's the deal, you got delayed and are now paranoid of DoJ guys seizing your already aquired guns?
Did you do something crazy or is it a screw up on their end?
                      WTB Irish firearms:
old SxS shotguns, Enfields (Irish contract or FF marked), RIC marked carbines or revolvers, odd ball flintlocks.

Haha- that's what happens when I read the replies before the title.

In this case- boating accident or buried in the desert would be your only option. Or safe deposit box of an unrelated friend/girlfriend? Of course, if they wanted to screw you, they'd be the new owners of some cool stuff

If you're not paranoid, you're not paying attention. LOL. No, I have purchased guns in CA over the last 40 years and never had a problem.
Now, out of the blue, DOJ throws a 'Delay' on me without any explanation.
I did Livescan and got the record DOJ is looking at-there's nothing on it that classifies me as a 'prohibited person'. So, the conclusion is that DOF doesn't
want ANYBODY to have firearms, and they're quite willing to violate our constitutional rights to achieve that goal.
