    Beware of Scammers!

I posted a WTB ads for a Colt Python recently in the Calguns forum and started getting emails from people who said they have what I was looking for.

I didn't think much of it initially and communicated with the first one. He said he had a blue 4" Python in prestine condition and wanted, I thought, a reasonable price. So, I got excited and asked him for photo. He sent back a couple of pictures. Both were of a 6" Stainless Python. And he said he was in Michigan and he said I would definitely get the Python. I knew instantly this was a scam and terminated the conversation with him.

This morning, I woke up to yet another couple of email with very similar scam "signatures". I ignored all of them.

Just want everyone out there to be careful with these scammers. It would be sad to lose money to them!

The quick giveaways are the ones who post " I have the item you are looking for."

Yep, buyer beware...especially on high dollar/high demand items!

Lots of no good scammers and cheaters out there. Do your legwork and don't let one of these jackholes rip you off. I hate thiefs!

You can also respond to their offers with something like, "are the original Colt batteries included?" or "does it come with both lenses?". The Nigerian scammers always say yes, no matter what the item is.

          Beware of Scammers!

The two times I've posted on the WTB thread, I've only received scam responses. Both times they were "helpful fellow Calgun members" who knew of someone else, out of state who has exactly what I'm looking for and gives me their address.
The first time this happened, I emailed the person in Tennessee and got an almost immediate reply with photos. AND--importantly, wanted me to send money via Western Union. Suspicious (with western union you have no recourse), I looked at the photos and did a Google search for photos of the same rifle. Sure enough, the photo the scammer had sent was a photo lifted from a three year old listing on Armslist. When I went back to the original calguns message, I saw that the friendly calgunner no longer existed.
The one I got today was a similar set up, out of state, I know he has what you're looking for, and already, the Calgun member is banned. I don't think I'm going to bother posting on the WTB forum anymore.

It's just sad that the world is so filled with scammers and thieves. The information and tech changes over the years has just made it worse. At least in the pre internet era you had to be face to face with a con man or a thief.

use the iTrader system (if at all possible), that's what it's there for.

Almost two years, I've seen better necroposting.

And it's always noobs doing the necroposting. You can't tell me the calguns search function sucks; even noobs know how to search for old topics.
