Tell them to mail it to you. Sounds like it's their butt and not yours. If they want you to do something.. they'll have to compensate you just like how you had to compensate them for their time. Sounds fair to me!

    Legally.. I don't know.

It could be death to the dealer. IT is not your problem that they didn't give you a 4473 to fill out. Or did they just not get you to sign it on pick-up day? either way, they messed up and at the price of gas they need to compensate you for time and money. If they are your dealer and you consider them a good dealer and friend then help them out and do it ASAP. But, they made the mistake so they should pay for your time and gas.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

One called me today saying he forgot to have me put my signature on the 4473. It's an employee that usually has attitude that called me. He was pleasant this time because of his F up so I told him I'd be in in a day or two to do it. I don't expect any compensation but with gas being $4.50...

Big 5 had an audit and they forgot too, I came in and did it like in 2003 and they gave me a $15 gift card.

My dad, on a PPT in 2001, Turners DROSed the guns back to the original owner instead of my dad the buyer. They threatened my dad if he didn't come immediately to re DROS they would call DOJ. My dad said go ahead and call. I doubt they did. He did go after work and they offered him 3 boxes of 9x19 ball. He ended up getting 5x boxes of .45acp ball for his trouble.

About an hour of redoing paperwork and a 20 mile roundtrip drive maybe.

I didn't fill out any form. This is their ___ I think, not mine. I like the idea of not having the FEDs in my business. One last gun Obama can take away. But I don't want to get them or myself in trouble. They sounded nervous on the phone.

If you didn't fill out a 4473, it is both yours and the FFL's butt on the line.

              I'd get over there.

How the heck does a dealer "forget" to do the 4473? That is the primary document that the buyer fills out. Of course, the dealer does the DROS on the computer.

I've had FFL's lose my gun for a day or so and I'veseen them DROS the gun to the wrong person so anythings possible. I've seen FFLs when the new 4473 form came out still try to have people fill out the old yellow form. I've seen monkey business with the safe affdavit also. So I suppose anythings possible but that is strange.

Heck, once I had one have me fill out a 4473 in Spanish as they ran out of the English ones! I can read/speak Spanish somewhat so I didn't mind.

                          4473

Tell them to send it to you. Alternately, you could suggest that one of THEIR employees make the 45 minute drive to your place. It's their mistake not yours.

It's a business that is saddled with alot of paperwork. Businesses are buried by paperwork. If you want FFL's to stay in business in this unfriendly gun state...then go and make sure you make things right and sign the 4473 form.

I have used a new FFL for my last two transactions...if there was a paperwork goof, then I would make it right. Having as many FFL's in this state is what I would want..for the availability of purchase or transfer of firearms. Just think..that if Turner's was the only FFL in Cali...then there is no way that we would have out OLL's here since it's against store policy to handle those.

More choices for us is good.

Wasn't it a paperwork issue that closed Rich's Guns in Whittier last year?...shame..because he was willing to do OLL's and had a very fair price of receiving items from out of state for transfer.
