    Gunsamerica?

Has anybody purchased a gun through Gunsamerica? I found one I like and have been told to send the money to their agent who holds it until the gun arrives. Then I get a three day inspection before the money is sent to the seller.

    This seems weird but....?

I have, but beware... Only buy from people that have a good reputation there. Pay with Credit Card incase the deal goes bad and someone is just trying to scam you. But since I discovered this site, I have done all my purchases on here or local gun stores.

I have had bad dealings with gunsamerica's customer service before. I found them downright hostile. Good luck to you if you buy from them, just try not to piss 'em off.

UPDATE: Followed up on a seller that agreed to sell, but the invoice from Gunsamerica said to send money to a third party, cash not credit card. The deal seemed funky, so I sent the invoice to Gunsamerica and they said it was a scam and they were closing the guy down.

Man alive, the invoice looked real good, red, white and blue like the Gunsamaerica site. Hope they catch the guy.

I have bought two rifles through Gunsamerica - it is just like an ad - not an auction. I sent the money to the sellers and did recieve what was pictured.

I only remember that the sellers were listed as "verified" or something like that. No numbers on how many satisfied customers or anything like that.

I guess I lucked out on my two. Glad to hear that you were not scammed.

The "send $$$ to 3rd party" is a persistent scam on GA and probably some other sites. I got an e - mail from a site warning of the operation. Don't know the nuts & bolts of how it works, but it's basically send your $$$ to a disinterested party for safekeeping until the product arrives. Of course there is no disinterested party.

I always use a cc, always check the yellow pages if they are a business and a ZabaSearch for non - dealers. Nothing's foolproof, the feedback helps and of course GA doesn't have that feature.

I've bought and sold through GA and it sound like you have a scammer. GunsAmerica doesn't ever collect money through a third party. In fact, you're not supposed to pay them for an item, the seller pays them for the ad.

Watch out on this one. Pay in credit card, have the item shipped to your FFL and inspect it first.

I passed on the whole deal. GA said it was a scam. Sticking to my old Faithful's for buying firearms.

I have read some really horrible stuff about some of the vendors who posts some really nice S&W eye candy. (selling refinished guns as LNIB, etc).

For my money* the website design is just friggin horrible.
