    Shipping long guns

My google fu is weak today. All the answers I find are about the owner shipping guns to someone else for the purpose of a sale or transfer of ownership.

I moved and left my guns with a friend for safe storage. Now I'm settled and have a secure place to store my guns and want them at my new residence. I own them and they are registered to me. I would like them shipped from California to Washington state. I plan on having them tracked.

Can my friend mail to my residence long guns via USPS, UPS or FedEx?

Do they need to be shipped to a FFL? (no transfer of ownership is taking place and I am the registered owner)

What if one box contains parts that cannot be assembled into a functioning firearm?

    Anything else I should know?

    Thanks!

They are not "registered" to you. You are the owner but there is no registration. Shipping across state lines requires an FFL on the receiving end. The only exception I know of (I think)is if you are shipping to yourself from yourself(ie traveling). If you ship them USPS, as long as there is no ammunition, there is no need to identify to the USPS that they are guns(long guns only, handguns cannot go USPS unless you are an FFL). In fact, they don't want any employees to know. I guess theft if a problem.

If I said anything that is incorrect, please someone correct me. I am not an expert.

Easier way is to fly to your buddy, get the guns, and fly home. The guns won't get lost or damaged, and you'll get them faster
