    Average PPT Fees?

What does the average FFL charge to do a private party transfer. I just did a transfer a week and a half ago with calguns member, Linh and the FFL only charged $10.. It was quick too. The store was busy, but once he got to us, it only took maybe 15 minutes from start to finish. Great guys to deal with..

EDIT: This was a Royal Loan in San Diego

i believe 10 bucks over state fees is all that they can charge legally.

State mandated maximum charge of $35 for PPT's is the most dealers can charge.

        $25 for the DROS
        $10 for the dealer.

I have done one transfer just recently where the dealer tacked another $15 for "administrative fee". Suppose I could have *****ed about it, but the dealer was a smaller "mom and Pop" so I let it slide. In that situation, $15 is no big deal. I'd rather help keep them in business.
        Hope that helps,

I was under the impression that the total would also be 35 bucks for a PPT.. 25 for the DROS and 10 bucks for the FFL.

I have not used Royal Pawn but I have heard nothing but great things about them. I will go check them out tomorrow see what they have for sale.. Do they have any guns for sale there?

Yea.. they have some good stuff on the shelves.. new and used.

They have a new SOCOM 16 for 1599.. I had considered getting it since all the other shops around here are asking almost 1700 for SOCOMs. But alas, I already have a M1A

Man, don't start.... I am soo freaking into 1911 mode right now that I will end up buying one if they have it... Well, the good thing is that I could not buy a new one this month so it would have to be a PPT.... Or haul the wife in to buy it if I really see one that I like..

the average price seems to be about $37 since there are a few ffls charging more than the legal maximum

Just to put in a *good* word, I did a PPT at a FFL once and he only charged the state mandated $25, and didn't charge the possible extra $10. It's only happened once, but just goes to show not all FFLs are bad guys out there, some are real nice chaps.

On true PPT's one of my local FFL's charges the illegal amount of $50 and two others say they only do them on weekdays which is also illegal. I know one FFL that charges less than $35 total for a PPT for LEO's.
