Wearing body armor at gun ranges?

I went to the range earlier today and noticed two guys walking out wearing (concealed) body armor. Not sure if they were LE or not but it got me thinking. How many of you wear, or would wear body armor while out at the range? For safety purposes??

I took a class at the local college a number of years back and they MADE us wear vests before they'd let us on the line. I dunno if I care to do it now, but those guys were probably mall ninjas or LE.
Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home, let me die in an empty pile of brass.

I would have never even thought of wearing a vest at the range.
        They're too cumbersome.

"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms, disarm only those who are neither inclined, nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants. They serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."

I know that the Firing Line in HB has a policy that you can only wear Body Armor if you are a LEO or military.

            I think same with EGSW.

I wonder if a Firing Line employee or Evans could comment on this and why this is the policy? It may be a mall ninja thing but when I was training some totally inexperienced shooters one time I wore one. It made me feel a little better on 1-2 occasions.

Probably because they don't feel comfortable with random folks at the range renting guns while wearing body armor when they are not...

Yup, mall ninjas crossed my mind, assuming they werent LE. I'm ex-military and have my own body armor at home for SHTF purposes but I never thought of wearing it at the range. Not sure of the legal issues, if any, on that...

Maybe they want to be the supreme mall ninjas at their shop I suppose they could wear body armor or do so. Or they could carry some super duper penetrating ammo to counter the folks wearing the body armor

What does renting guns have to do with it? I suppose some people might want to wear body armor while practicing who are not LE or military, maybe a security guard? Or someone who works in a high robbery risk business such as a jewlery shop. Their range, their rules though what are they going to do?

Some types of body armor worn correctly with the correct clothing are hard to spot. Is the help at the counter going to rub my chest when I step in to the range?

What if we rent guns to two people wearing vests and they are there to shoot up / rob the place. Don't allow more than one mag with the rental guns for the same basic reason. We have no way of ascertaining the criminal history or intent of someone that wants to rent. If you're bringing your own gun we don't really care.

There was that poor ******* who got shot in the back at burro one day... I bought a concealable vest. Level III-A along with two SAPI plates.
