America Is Being Deceived - Stats From CDC

I saw a very nice chart, believe it was on these forums, where the statistics for the cause of death was broken down by age group. It really is misleading to show death statistics of senior citizens (certainly in there 80's +) and attribute it to heart failure, cancer or anything else and claim that it should be the number 1 health concern of all citizens. Its like counting suicides as being a part of gun violence statistics.Comment

Saw this article some time ago.
Sorry, not sorry.

Nice. This was my main point. Taking the few, the extreme, and applying it to all. Really?Comment

Yes all old new and as gunners we should know these facts already.
HERE"s the real problem. The deeper problem.
Gun use, deaths, etc. are NOT a disease. The truth is they're trying to vilify gun ownership in itself as an ill.
The CDC should not even be involved with these stats at all. Gun ownership is not a disease. The diseases or medical issues are just to frequent and common to report or generate interest. The news cannot report every car crash death or heart attack as it's too boring, and you'll lose audience. But to report a shooting generates interest.
It has NOTHING to do with the CDC.Last edited by ERdept; 08-09-2013, 11:36 PM.Comment

I'm surprised alcohol isn't being mentioned, along with the estimated 90,000+ deaths every year just attributed to DUI's alone...that includes an estimated 300 innocent CHILDREN who die every year, thanks to accidents involving drunk drivers
that's not even touching on the health aspects of alcohol, and, the deaths it is responsible for yearly
find me ONE valid reason we need to have alcohol, anything to justify the nearly 100,000 yearly deaths, due to alcohol related car accidents alone
gun deaths pale in comparison to the amount of lives lost because of alcohol, yet, you'll never hear anyone attempt to start a ban on booze, nope, even if it's FOR THE CHILDRENsigpicComment

Not a critical thinker are we.
The link below is the chart I was talking about its from the CDC (you probably lifted your info from these charts). The gun grabbers would combine the 11,078 from Firearm Homicide with the 19,392 from Firearm Suicide to obtain 30,470 DEATHS FROM FIREARMS IN 2010!!!

Or he is just intelligent...
If you look at those stats number 2 is cancer, you can't really control cancer. To an extent you can like not smoking or avoiding breathing in asbestos but other than that with most cancers the key is early detention not prevention.
Smoking is responsible for a large amount of the other diseases on there. Everyone knows the hazards of smoking yet they continue to do it. If these people die from smoking they are choosing to smoke they weren't forced to smoke two packs a day for 20 years. You can't ban the sale of cigarettes because they would have nothing to stand on. The revenue generated from taxing them far outweighs the money we spend on healthcare because of them.
Automobiles are something vital to our country, it allows us to have jobs, it allows the transportation of goods, it allows for public safety and health agencies to quickly respond, the list goes on. If you can keep a straight face when you suggest we can automobiles because they are too dangerous then I am sorry but you can't be helped.
Guns on the other hand are way easier of a target. You can make endless arguments for gun control. Some of them more founded than others. There have been many amendments to the constitution why everyone thinks that guns can't be messed with because it's part of the constitution is wrong. We need to stop thinking guns are something they can't take away from us. They can legally ban guns by amending the constitution, which is something the forefathers allowed. Fight for gun rights but these silly arguments where we compare statistics and scream 2a! 2a! just make gun supporters seem dumb. Most gun crimes occur with illegal weapons anyway which no amount of gun control will stop.Comment

The money for tobacco related healthcare far outweighs any revenue from them.NRA Lifetime Member
