    Select fire gauss gun

Apologies in advance if this is a dupe...has this been posted yet?

It leaves me with one question: who's organizing the group buy?

I would paint that thing up in white/orange, already looks like a "district 9" weapon

I was thinking about building one of these, until I remembered that can't even change a car battery without roadside assistance.

Clever. Needs like 50 more coils. Miniaturize the design!

Wow, so this is the future of firearms, huh? I like it, very cool. Someday we will look back upon our gunpowder powered guns and think that they are quaint, just like we look back on black powder guns now.

Reminds me of the nail gun in "FEAR Perseus mandate"

                      Yeah, it's a dupe...

That being said it is still awesome.

Needs to be redone with shorter coils, lose the opto triggers, run it off timing, and get a lot more performance per shot. Give it some mating rifling while you're at it like old recoilless rifles.

Projectiles could also develop a lot more velocity at a lower mass

They are clearly tumbeling too so probably a bit long....

Finer wire, more turns and shorter (maybe thicker) coils would add power as well.

Instead of going for cyclic rate it would be neat to see it set up for more power per shot. ... the optical gating should be adaptable..

He should use ball bearings instead of those projectiles because they are tumbling, comment I saw on YouTube "I can imagine this getting into the wrong hands and killing innocent people" smh stupid antis just don't want progress smh

Bullets aren't spinning, that's why they tumble. They also have to be made of magnetic material like iron or steel.

The concept isn't quite new. The Nazis were working on them during WWII. I seem to remember the U.S. military working on them in the '80's.

Over/under number of ATF declaring it a firearm sometime in the near future is 90/10, and I'll take the over.
