    EoTech or Aimpoint?

Asking fellow gunners for your 2 cents.

I'm about to buy one or the other - just curious as to peoples experience with either of these.
OR - are they over price. The LUCID HD7 Red Dot Sight, Gen III has some great reviews on Amazon - so your thoughts?????

    Thanks.

I like Trijicon too. But a bit to much $$ for me right now.

I'd suggest you see if you can try them out first by checking with friends and such.

Personally I went with the EOTech. I really liked it's basically flat and it was really quick for me in target acquisition. The aimpoint still had that "looking through a tube" effect and, for me at least, made me more aware of it's presence.

I think someone else had asked or atleast addressed this topic in the "optics" section...as for me...I have an eotech but have not tried an aimpoint but would love to...so a neutral vote for me haha...

Couple questions you need to ask yourself first/answer.

        1. Purpose of your rifle/carbine that your going to mount the optic on(ie hobby gun, classes, SHTF, etc)
        2. Price range
        3. How often do you shoot

I have no personal experience with Lucid products(actually never even heard of the company until now) but according to Mac it doesnt seem to be bad for its price range.

I personally went back to Aimpoint from Eo-Techs due to its superior battery life, mounting abilities(technically its a plus on whichever company makes the mount you buy as there are great ones and bad ones), durability and ability to maintain zero. Eo-Tech has a great reticule which I love but reliability and durability wins out for me. Obviously Aimpoint will be the more expensive one as you will need to buy the mount separate which will cost you about $120+ for a good one but depending on your usage you will probably save on all the batteries.

I have both. I have had an eotech for a few years and just bought an Aimpoint to give it a go on my most recent build. I agree with the others...the Aimpoint has a tube effect and for my application a bit too big. I like shooting with both eyes open and the eotech works best for me for quick target acquisition

Having used both, I prefer the Aimpoint H1 in 2moa. I like the EoTechs, but the Aimpoints have a better rep for durability and are smaller/lighter.

Still like the ACOGs with red chevrons (like green horseshoes as well) more, but have no use for them in an HD role under 100 yards.

For quality and durability, a good optic is not overpriced IMO.

Why pay $500+ for a Glock when you can get a cheapie gun for under $200?

quality and durability; optics are no different

I have a cheapie red dot on a .22 rifle that is beaten and abused by new shooters and people that have no respect for .22s; it's still working perfectly and holds zero with NO issues (loctite is used of course)

would NEVER depend on it in a situation where people are shooting at me though; would stick with irons over it

            what is your purpose?

Aimpoint, significantly better battery life, and very durable. I have used both, and don't have any issues with the Aimpoint.

Aimpoints are the way to go.. Much better battery life, and they can handle way more abuse.

If you decide you have to get a EoCrap make sure to get the XPS one with the CR123 batteries.

I have both, like the eotech for close work, like in buildings, large sight. Aimpoint for range work. Just ordered a flip magnifier for my eotech, will have to see how it goes then.

Both are fine. EOtech may need warranty work but they have quick turn a round. If your properly shooting with both eyes open and a good check weld you wont have the "tube effect" coming from the Aimpoint.

The "Purpose" question is coming up a bit. I used my cousins EoTech a few years ago and loved it. I want a red-dot sight for a little "up close and personal" action and a bit of rapid fire. (Love my AR)

I'm going with a regular scope (Leopold) for my Savage 110FCP.

Budget is tight. But that's why we have piggy banks right?

I've owned both and it depends on what reticle you prefer. The Eotech has a 65 moa ring that is great for CQB, as the ring is about the size of center mass. With the ring, you can quickly engage COM shots using the ring instead of relying on a dot.

However, my Eotech drained batteries like crazy and wasn't nearly as efficient as my Aimpoint. They have gotten better with efficiency, but Aimpoint still has them beat by a mile. There have been reports also questioning their durability.

                            I use Aimpoint.

I went with Aimpoint for battery life. I shoot with both eyes open and have never had a problem with my Aimpoint. I usually don't even open the front cover because with both eyes open you don't have to. Battery life alone was enough to make the decision an easy one for me.
