Help me identify a german pistol please

My wife's grandfather was in WWII. While there he "picked up" a small pistol that I guess high officers carried. It was a small little semi-auto that looked to shoot 38's or something close to that size. It has a swastika on the slide and is sliver (maybe SS). I only saw this gun for a few minutes many years ago and noticed the ejector arm and spring were missing. He eye sight is not what it used to be and did not notice it was missing and could not even guess where it might have come off at since he has not fired it since WWII. Made him very sad from what I could tell even though he tried to hold it back. Lots on memories I guess that pistols holds. Maybe lost friends.

Anyway, I want to find a replacement part for his gun as a gift. I think its the least I can do for what he did for all of us. I just need to know the name of the gun so I can start googling.

    Thanks everyone

Well, not knowing a whole lot about what he's got, there were only several models that officers carried in WW2, the biggest possibility being a PPK variant of some kind. You could start there. Is there any way you could go catch a look at the gun again?

Yeah I was thinking PPK or PP of some kind. I don't remember if it was a 38 or a 32 cal. Problem is the gun is on the east coast. I spoke with my wifes aunt who lives over there and asked if she could try and find it and snap a few pic's for me. I have looked online but all the Walthers I see that are so-called german pistols are blued not polished. I can't find anything that says a polished model was givenout. I did read that many officers brought in their own guns from home so it might not have been a gov issued pistol at all. The swastika could have been put on at the request of the officer once the war started.

Funny looking silver pistol? Take a look at a Dryse, its a 32 acp but looks nothing like a Walther.

Things have taken a real turn for the worst for my wifes grandmother in the past couple months. The family is over there now saying goodbye. I have decided to forget about the part for now and maybe forever. Its just not the time, you know. Our grandfather is also not doing well mainly because of his wife. We don't think he will live long after her death. She is in the high 80's and he in the 90's. If you guys could keep them in your prayers it would mean a lot.

            Thanks

The Germans practically never made nicke. finished commercial pistols, and absolutely did not nickel finish any Nazi marked guns. You undoubtedly have a GI bring back which was nickled after the war.
