What kind of issues? Did you strip it and lube it before shooting? What kind of ammo were you shooting? It's best to shoot "factory" 230 gr. RN in a new gun to make sure it cycles what it was made for. Then when the gun shows it's reliable, try different types of ammo.

I have tried about every brand of mag there is, and no longer buy anything but Wilson Combat. I still use some other brands, Metalform (and the ones they made for and labeled Ed Brown) are the best of the rest.

I've had one Chip McC mag I returned as a POS, but I did have one other one that worked ok. I won't be buying any more though.

Were the Chip M. mags shipped with the gun?

Unfortunately I didn't clean it before shooting the 1st 200 rounds. When using the Chip mags the slide was locking open every other load. When using the kimber 8 round it shot just fine with a little hiccup every 30 rounds or so. So far I'v put 350 rounds though it with one cleaning. In your experience how many rounds for kimber break ins??? Oh and do you guys recommend a grease such as shooters choice or oil?? Thanks

No, I was told first thing to do with a kimber is "throw away factory mags and get a chip".... I'm keeping the kimber mag and I'm about to throw out the chips.

Good, each one is a bit different. All of my 1911 are loaded with Wilson.

I have 2 10 round chip power mags. They function in my 1911 flawlessly. During break in they would on occasion fail to lock the slide back after the last round, but they never hiccuped on feeding.

Kimber ProTac mags worked without problems for my TLE/RL II. So did the factory 7 rounder that came with it. CMC Power mags are some of the best around. When nothing else worked on a TRP I had (slide not locking back after the last round), the CMC Power Mag did. So my mag choices are as follows. For my Kimber - Kimber ProTac. Wilson Stainless Protector - Wilson 47D and ETM. S.A. TRP Operator - CMC Powermags.

Congratulations on your 1911. First of many I'm sure.

Oh and I have to ask - are the naked lady grips staying?

True.....naked ladies are cool, but not on your Kimber (IMHO). But hey- if you like her- more power to you.

Is it because of the old styled new imagery on a new gun???

                              No...

I feel like it's more like a bumper sticker on a new Porsche. But that's just me........
