X2...my Pelican pistol case doubles as the family's Canon SLR camera case...I just swap out the foam insert. Depending on the length or your barrel and stock, you can use a relatively small case if you transport the upper and lower separated. My Colt with 18" barrel will easily fit in a 27" wide case if lower and upper separated.

A 1650 should easily work. My cousin, who is a professional photographer and videographer, uses a 1650 for his still camera and equipment.

Pelican cases are awesome and I have a couple. But if you're not going to fly with or mail it, a soft case is probably fine for just going to the range.

There are tons out there that are much smaller and probably bit more discrete. Just measure your upper and lower and start searching for cases that will be suitable. There are definitely Pelican cases of all sizes if that's what you prefer. If you want to avoid attention, just put some oddball stickers on it.

I bought an Allen soft case (44") for under $30 from Amazon. It's perfect for an AR without breaking it down. A buddy has a nice Cabela's soft case that would hold 2 ARs.

Next time you hit the range, just take a look at what other guys are using. Lots of choices.
