    Gun Customization/Design Software

I've done a fair bit of searching, and I've yet to find much beyond the "Pimp My Gun" flash apps. I'm looking for something similar to Solidworks or CAD that has models for all types of guns. Maybe something community driven or crowd-sourced. How cool would it be to be able to load up a model of your Glock and "test fit" that ported barrel/slide combo you've been looking at. I'm talking about all kinds of parts that will snap to their proper location on the firearm and can be custom colored. I'm trying to decide on a color scheme for a few of my guns for Cerakoting, and I thought something like this would be incredibly helpful. Anyone have any thoughts on the subject?

sounds like a lot of work, I have a drafting certificate obtained in college, and I sure as hell wouldn't have fun sitting there with a caliper measuring every inch of every scope avalible for every gun model in the world.

I would honestly just take a decent DSLR, set your gun in front of a poster board (curved) shine a light at the white poster board, snap a picture, and photoshop/GIMP it any color combo you may want

I know Brownells.com has something like that for ARs. It's 2D though.

That probably didn't help you any.

      Why do I feel worthless...

Link below for AR's and allows you to test-fit a bunch of stuff.

          951,
I agree that it would be a TON of work, and I imagine that's why there's nothing like that floating around. I just wonder if it would be worth trying to get a group together to take a stab at something like that.

          jdouglas and hanko,
I probably should have mentioned that I've toyed with the Brownell's AR builder and perused many an AR forum.

I suppose my best bet would be to just go the photoshop route. How awesome would a 3D catalog be though? A man's gotta dream, I reckon. Thanks for the replies!
