tactical optic recommendations - $300ish range

    Hello fellow Calgunners,

I was looking for some quick recommendations for an optic in the $300ish max range.
    Considerations:
Primarily mounted on a Colt 6940 556, may also be put on an airsoft rifle, 10/22 or pellet rifle (because you can't shoot 556 in your backyard)

    1.5-4x magnification minimum range.

Tacticool is a plus (Acog style a favorite, but 2 much $ for a real one, I is too poor )
    Illuminated reticle
    BDC reticle preferred
Variable range is nice but not necessary

Thanks for any help you can offer. Here is onei was looking at as kind of a reference:

Get a used EoTech. I have had multiple ACOGs and the only one that was worth a damn was the expensive one with the red dot mounted on top for CQB. The target acquisition is just better.

I have an eotech xps2.0. It's great. Got it through GG&G as a package with the quick release and lens cover. Keep an eye on their site. They will run deals on the a few times a year. My buddy has aBushnell acog lookalike. It's ok. I think that was only $150.

Can you get another $100 to add for a free 3x magnifier?

I got Eotech XPS 2.0 with a 5x magnifier and everyone loves it. It is more then you want to spend but worth it do only do it once. Just something to think about.

With optics, I think the general consensus is "Buy once, cry once." Just keep saving up. If you're saying $300ish, you're pretty close to an "Aimpoint PRO."

I'm in the same boat as you. Waiting/saving for an Aimpoint Micro Red Dot. Almost there...

How about a Leatherwood CMR. About $300, 1.1-4x, lighted reticle, BDC. I think it fits your criteria.
