I am in the middle of a build but it is for my brother in law in another state. does anyone know what the rules are as far as shipping long guns to another state I planned on taking it to a dealer there and doing the transfer to him but I don't want to get in trouble along the way. I am flying there is there anything against taking in a locked case with me as checked luggage. Any help please

Ship to a FFL, and if UPS the contents must be verbally declared, but not indicated on the box or label. Different for handguns of course.

You will have to find an FFL who will receive a gun from a non-ffl and provide all the requested documentation. I just shipped two shotguns. One went to Tennessee by UPS with no hassles. The other went to North Carolina by Priority Mail and the ffl was a real pita, but I just bit my tongue and did what he said.
Moving firearms is difficult but doable.Jack

Talked to a shop in Washington guy said I would have to have a local shop ship it to them or I could just bring it with me and deliver it myself to shop with brother inlaw and they can do transfer right then and there. Guess I'm going that route. Thanks for the info though.
