    Transfer on an unregistered rifle

Somebody is selling a rifle which according to him the rifle was never registered to his name when he bought it from somebody else 15 years ago.
Can he sells the rifle that was never registered to his name?
Am I going to have a problem when I do the private party transfer on this rifle? Thanks for the inputs.

There is no rifle registration in California until Jan 1.
There is no justification for the public servant police to be more heavily armed than the law-abiding public they serve...Unless...the government's intention is to be more powerful than the people.

This link have some answers to your questions. Good luck.

I hit the wrong key and posted before I was finished. I received a rifle from a friend a couple months ago and had to go through an FFL (legal issue). The only thing the DOJ checked was my background to see if I could legally own the firearm; they didn't care about the rifle history or whether it was registered.

A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government."

Rifles are not registered like hand guns. Not yet at least. Should be fine to PPT.

Just to be absolutely clear he's talking about a non AW..yes? Something that was suppose to be registered under the Roberti-Roos bill back in 89. You wanna make sure you stay outta hot water.

                The rifle is M1 Garand.
                Second question,
The guy is disable and he does not have any transportation, he was asking if it's possible to just do a straight sell without doing PPT through gun store.

eegh, unless it's known to be a C&R M1 , dunno about that. Plus is he an FFL3 license holder?

                    Not a C&R M1 and he doesn't have ffl3 license.

Pose this question in the FFL forum. Maybe someone could go to his house for you. Maybe he could ship it to the FFL with a copy of his license for a regular DROS sale.

That's what he said, he might be mistaken and I'm not too familiar with M1.
