    Man, Idaho Is Cool

So I walked into my first Idaho gun store today (I'm here with my wife and kids visiting to see if we like it here). We're in the Boise area and I see the sign: Sawtooth Tactical. I had to stop. I walk in: SBR's, suppressors, bulpups shorter than 30", true HK rifles.....all up on the wall and on the counters to touch and drool over. And the crazy part: NO BLACK HELICOPTERS flying overhead getting ready for a bust. I fiddled around with some stuff, but didn't have much time as the fam was waiting in the car.

Talked to the guy there for a bit about CA and guns....he said I was a breath of fresh air as Californians go. The fact that I was different from most of the peeps from CA he met, talked to or heard of gave me a good feeling about moving there. The sad fact is, I don't belong in CA. I havent for a long time. He said all the Californians are coming in and turning it into CA, and that's why they don't like (most of) us. Can't say I blame them! I wanted to give the guy a hug.....because I we'll know what is in store for future Boise if they let that happen.

I have a good feeling about this place. Nice people, small college town feel but not BF nowheresville. Probably a good 500k+ people in the Treasure Valley (Boise area). This is my first day here.

Anyone want me to find anything out? I'm leaving Monday AM.

My wife is from Boise. I asked her: "what's it like there?" I got a 20 minute explanation of how they "HAVE NO MENTAL HEALTH SYSTEM".

    What?

Er...... Uh.... Was your wife in need of one?

Beautiful area as I remember but I never lived there, just passed through.

I'd start looking at local news sites, see what they report on, check weather throughout the year.

It's 102 degrees there right now? I don't remember it being that hot!

Spent a week in Couer d Alene back on May and fell in love with it. It's definitely on my short list of places to move.

I lived in Idaho Falls for a couple of years in the 80's and loved every minute of it.

              Pictures. Lots of pictures.

I plan on driving through a few states for 2 weeks in December. Stopping along the way to see of there's any deals on ammo.

I was born in twin falls, grew up in the American Falls area and lived and worked in Idaho Falls. Idaho is a great place to raise a family but leave your California ways in California.

You will find that a boat, 4x4, good rifle and a good attitude will help you fit in very nicely and allow to take advantage of everything the state has to offer.

88 Bronco. Great memories of Boise State. I love it there.

My step-father is from Boise. After living in CA, he moved back. I visit when I can. I would move there if I had the opportunity. Definitely leave your CA attitude behind. There is a strong dislike for the typical Californian, especially the one that moves there and then tries to make it like CA.

When I visit, even breathing the air gives me a sense of feeling freer.
Anyone can look around and see the damage to the state and country inflicted by bad politicians.

A vote is clearly much more dangerous than a gun.

Why advocate restrictions on one right (voting) without comparable restrictions on another (self defense) (or, why not say 'Be a U.S. citizen' as the requirement for CCW)?

My thought is, when you have; fresh air, hunting, fishing, living conditions that don't resemble packed sardines and where people love freedom, there is no need for a mental health system.

BTW, I'll be in Idaho Falls this coming Thursday evening, yea, I can't wait.

lol... looks like we are all going to be there in a retirement community in Boise someday. We'll all talk about how it sucked to have BBs and pinning mags while our nurse changes our diapers.

I was born in Lewiston, lived in a tiny little town called Headquarters. Beautiful place. Parents dragged me to CA when I was a kid. If the wife's family wasn't here I'd go back.
