    30mm ammo links

Any input on what 180 new, in original crate 30mm ammo links are worth?

What kind of 30mm? 30x173 or 30x113? If it is the former, I'm interested in the whole lot.

Please post a location and pics. I'm also interested in the lineage of these items and how/where you got them.

Wow 30mm what shoots those and is it legal?
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

30mm ammo and the guns are both destructive devices. I guess it could be legal for a civilian to own one or both with the proper paperwork. Getting a hold of one of the guns is extremely unlikely (if not impossible). GD and ATK only sell this product line to .mil.

The 30x113 is for the M230 (found on Apache and some ground vehicles). 30x173 is for GAU-8 (A-10) or Mk44/Bushmaster 2 (AC-130, EFV, FCS ICV).

They were in a sea container that was aquired with some property. Some old surplus I would guess. There was some military type fasteners and misc. things in there too. No ammo whatsoever was found. So cal desert area.

Were you able to determine if they were 30x173 or 30x113? The 30x173 has a "tail" that extends out from the main body of the link. The tail is to engage the extractor groove on the casing. Overall length is going to be about 6 inches. The 30x113 is going to be around 3-4 inches total.

Are there any markings on the links or the container? This info is useful as there are several generations of links for the 30x173. The 1st gen ones were produced out of a place in San Diego (forgot their name). The next generation came from Nammo (Europe). The most recent generation is made by ATK (who did the original design anyways) and has some cost/performance improvements over the Nammo ones.

I am going back to the site on weds and will look at the links and get some pics. They did have "MFT" stamped on them.

ammo over .50 isn't always DD. It depends on the bullet. If the bullet is inert, with no explosives, then it is not a DD.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

I guess I stand corrected. Looking at US code 5845(f), I don't think a large caliber round with inert projectile would not be considered a DD. If it was not a tracer round you could have it in CA.

Gunbroker has a 30mm round on sale!

All you need is a gun (definitely a DD) and something that can withstand several thousand lbs of recoil force.
