A curious thought on registration

So after retroactive registration takes place, I had an unnerving idea of what the liberal pukes will attempt next. Just as with your car registration, it will start with indefinite registration at $19/gun, then it will be increased from there to perhaps $50/gun @ 5 years. Eventually the end game will be I suppose $100/gun @ 1 year just like your car. Speaking of the car, why do we pay annually for that? I am not changing title on it. Why am I forced to perpetually register something that does not change possession??? They will use this reasoning (or lack thereof as demonstrated) to force you to pay annually to register your firearms. Thoughts?

As far for your purposed idea regarding charging annually for firearm registration, that would be shot down as a 2nd amendment violation due to pricing of an already owned firearm out of the reach of the disadvantaged population (DC Vs. Heller would cover this).

Keep in mind that driving a vehicle is not a right it's a privilege and the state does not run any public ranges which they maintain.

Most of he roads I drive on are full of pot holes and have needed to be maintained for years, it seems that my vehicle registration fees are being used for something else..

But the DOJ needs funding for hunting down gun owners and confiscating their guns, that is what the perpetual firearms annual registration fee will be used for.

Well, if running a few public ranges is all it takes, the state will do it just to charge an annual fee. Of course the ranges will not be maintained, have only 2 available lanes, and a one year waiting list to use. It will also be limited to single shot .22 rifles or handguns. Because of the potential lead exposure hazard, you will also need to use a full hazmat suit. It is available for public use though.

Which calculates to $113/year. So the argument of "oh its a right they can't do that" has been proven false. They CAN AND WILL do that. Expect it.

They are looking into this as a way to protect the wilderness. Hunters pay for a hunting licese, Target shooters litter the ground on public lands without paying any fees. They are trying to tax the ammo.
