Shoulda mounted it flush against the corner. Less area for a thief to work in is always better.

Sooo, its in the closet. Mine was until my wife needed more room for clothes. Compromise was, I got a new Liberty in my office, the closet safe went to the garage to hold ammo that we cant get right now and she got more space for her clothes. Someday you will get to have yours out of the closet as well. Good Job in the mean time.

You could've built a "bridge" between studs from 2x4's. The ideal is to put the opening side against a wall instead of the hinge side. Like if you rotated it 90 degrees clockwise. The downside is it's a bit harder to get into but the upside is it's a lot harder to pry on the door.

I rent, I was reluctant to bolt mine into my closet, but I figured I could just cover up the holes when I move out.
I don't think I would take down part of my wall to put a bridge in, if I needed too. I got lucky though.

How much did that run you, OP?

+1. Remove and store ammo somewhere else. Replace with 20 handguns on vacated shelf.

Working on something similar with my wife. Convert the office into her craft area, and more all her stuff out of MY garage. Then I am going to redo the garage with new cabinets, Racedeck covering the floor, repaint, and get set up to reload.

ya I'm not too savvy with that stuff myself.
I don't remember the exact price on the safe, it was on sale at Turners, I think maybe between $300-500. mounting it was just the price of the hardware.

I am on my phone so the image is small.

Are the mounts visible in the pics?

How did you bolt to the wall and floor?

No they are not visible in the pics. you could see them in person if you looked hard enough, kinda dark as it is. To bolt them in I just used a stud finder and used 3/8 lag bolts for the wall and bought 1/2 lags for the floor but have yet to put those in.
