    Shipping a pistol to S&W

I may have to ship my .460 S&W back to the factory for warranty repairs. Have any of you shipped a pistol back to S&W recently? The S&W online warranty site will send me a shipping label/info. I'm just curious how much of a hassle, if any, when I actually go and ship the pistol to the assigned carrier.

Also, what is the usual turnaround time on S&W warranty work? My revolver lost its double action capability, but will function in single action mode. Total round count: 37 (ammo's expensive). I'm bummed out!

Provided you take your pistol to the (FedEx or UPS) hub, you shouldn't have any problem at all. All the people at the hubs seem to be well versed in the shipping of firearms. In my experience, they rarely even blink when you hand them the box and tell them you're shipping a firearm. Sometimes they'll ask if it's unloaded, but that's about it.

Don't offer any unasked comments about what's in the box. Most time they don care, there're just doing a job. As far as turn around, it will depend on how much work is in front of your gun. It could be several weeks. My last experience was 6 weeks. Good luck

if your in socal, Bolsa gunsmithing is a authorized S&W warranty repair.

Bolsa Gunsmithing offers firearm sales, repair, and customization of guns in the Orange County, California area.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.
        I'm Back.

I sent my m&p 9 out a few weeks ago, I called and told them the problem, the guy offered to email me a shipping label. I printed it out and packed the gun into a box with foam peanuts, the email came with simple step by step instructions.

Sent mine 3 weeks ago, getting it back this Monday.

          Here's the email.
