Got some help from a Calgunner

Earlier this year I started a search for a Rossi lever action in 357. A local ad popped up for one in .44 and I started a PM conversation with the seller because he had done some of the mods that I wanted to do once I purchased mine. He offered to help me when I eventually purchased one.

In June I finally started dros on a SS 16" and contacted him. We ended up meeting at his house on July 4th and he spent 3 hours teaching me more about the rifle, doing some polishing, and making sure it will feed reliably.

It is great to have people on this forum that are willing to help. I did not ask him if he wants his name used, so I will not post it, but if he wants to comment I am sure he will.

Every person I have met from calguns has been nothing but nice and helpful. This community we have built and are all part of is amazing!

I have experienced the same. Everyone I have met has been helpful and friendly. I try to do the same.

When I attended my first rifle match in high school, I was impressed with how rifle competitors would assist each other, knowing that their assistance may result in the one they helped out shoot them. I continue to see this at matches, and have some interesting stories of who has helped me. This is what makes our associations different from all other sports, we care for and assist our fellow competitors.

              YOU SUCK!!!

              Just kidding

Well you suck a little, just because I am jealous. I would love to have a 38/357 Rossi, and in stainless of course. I have read all about being able to slick them up, too. I think a guy named Steve has a web page and sells parts that is dedicated to that rifle. He has a dvd to show how to slick it up, but there is nothing better than a fellow shooter to show you the ropes. Sounds like a great way to celebrate our freedom.

              Enjoy that modern cowboy gun!!!

He learned how to do by using Steve's DVD. I purchased the improved follower and spring. Some really good hints on the DVD.

Can't see where you are from since I am on my phone, but if you are local to Modesto/Manteca, you are welcome to try it out.

I am in Fontana, so that is out, but thank you for the offer anyway. I have had a chance to shoot some guns that fellow shooters had, and I try to give others a go with my guns and reloaded ammo. Some people don't realize how much they may like a gun or the ability to load custom ammo, until they try it. A few people have liked my bunny fart 30-06 loads.

I offered help to an acquaintance in regards to her learning to shoot a 30 cal rifle and learning to possibly reload, but she hasn't taken me up on the offer. She got fed up with the recoil and cost of factory ammo, so she sold the rifle and bought something else that is almost as expensive to feed, but has less recoil.

I try to help out others as well, but you can only lead a horse to water.

It is good to see that there are still some good people out there.
