Bringing firearm home to Cali

I have a couple long guns back "home", or rather, where my parents live in Texas. It's been a long while since I've driven there, so I'm thinking I can just drive back home here to Cali with my long guns (just plain ol' remington .270win and .308win)? What do I have to do to be legit?


Edit: The only thing I can find I must do is submit a Firearm Ownership Record form along with $19 for each firearm. Is this all?

As long as they are not Assault Weapons, you are fine to bring them back here. You don't have to go through an FFL. Also, have them in a locked rifle bag or case and unloaded with ammo separate. If you do these things, you will be fine. Also, you don't have to submit a Firearm Ownership record. That only applies to handguns.

Also, in cali, you don't have to register long guns. That includes legally configured oll rifles.

Ah, right!

My Dad may give me his 9mm sidearm (Cali legal). What would I do in that case, anything aside from the Firearm Ownership Record?

family transfer, i belive is only fill out a paper and pay the state a very small fee.

but check the doj web site and make sure it is on the "approved" list, and does not have mags that can hold more than 10 rounds.

i belive no ffl is required. (due to farther to son).
