Tahoe Area Rifle Ranges

Greeting Gents and Ladies

Heading for a much-need holiday up on the north side of the lake and came across a few free ranges around Truckee. All the forum posts on these spots are old as dirt though.

Anybody out there with recent experience at Boca Reservoir, Hobart Mills or Sierra Valley Shooting Range?

I wanna send some FMJs while on holiday!

Sierra Valley is a little further out but a nice range.
Hobart is small side of the road style, but ok for pistol and small rifle.
Bocca is nice but you may have to walk in (there are 2 shooting areas within 100 yds of the gate). Check with the ranger station in Truckee to see if they have a key you can sign out. I got turned down for a key the last 2 trips, recently. Seems that they are down to 4 keys, so they go fast!
