How far can you strip your guns?

Just curious as to how far people can take down their firearms.

Are there any that give you grief or are so complicated or delicate that you wouldnt dare do more than remove the bolt for cleaning.

If there is please list the gun and why.

As for me, the only gun that i own that I havent taken down to just the frame and a bag of small parts is my buckmark.

But thats becuase ive only shot it once, and it was to be a gift that was never given. It just sits in the safe, the most ive done is field strip, remove the barrel and see how the mag disconnect works.

The one that always gives me problems are the sigs, i can never get that small locking block in the frame to go in on the first try, always takes me a minute to get everything to line up.

detail, all of them. I don't take barrels off of bolt guns or lever guns, that's about it. Oh, and I'm working on that.

I hate reassembling the two recoil springs into my later gen Universal M1 Carbine.

I can field strip all of mine. I can do a little more on my CZ SP-01. I can fully strip down my assembled lower, but that's only because I assembled it from a stripped lower (no big feat).

Its not necessary or advisable to detail strip firearms for every cleaning. You can cause much more wear and damage by over cleaning then under cleaning. Acually unless its a self defense gun or its going into long term storage i only clean my guns every couple hundred rounds.

Im just curious as to how well others know their firearms.

Since I do it all day everyday it's second nature anymore. It's no longer an issue about whether or not I can do it, now it's how fast can I do it.

I have completely stripped all of my guns (including rebarreling my Remington 700) into component parts EXCEPT my HK USP and my Sako TRG-42; I will not touch take apart the trigger assembly of that gun: no need and replacement parts would be very difficult to get. I hear that the USP is tricky to get back together without some special tools so I leave it alone.

Has anyone completely taken apart the slide and frame of their USP? The slide looks easy enough, just a couple of roll pins to drive out, but the frame seems to have some tricky parts in there.

Oh, I also have not taken barrels off of my revolvers.

Strip guns?

Many years ago, I took apart a very fine old Colt Woodsman pistol to "clean" it. Don't remember the details anymore, but still have a bill from the gunsmith who advised me "not to do that again". Can field strip anything I currently own.

I have really never stripped any of my guns naked. I have a printed copy of how to get each one naked but I would rather only do it when the gun starts acting up. That's why I am planning on buying two of each gun/rifle that I have. One for the range and one for SHTF storage...

The first thing I do when I get a new gun is to break it down as far as I can go using basic hand tools. I don't mess with trying to press barrels out yet.
