    She can shoot

I took the wife shooting to On Target today. She has gone many times with me so she knows all the basics. I always take a Browning Buckmark which she shoots surprisingly well. She was fine with the 22 but when she shoots the 9mm Kimber she kept shooting low....way low. Like off the paper. I shoot fine with the same pistol so I know the sights aren't off but she says she was aiming at the hanger just to get it in the bull eye. Any suggestions? Besides getting a new wife. Thats too costly!

She's probably pulling the muzzle down while "pulling" the trigger in anticipation of recoil.

Get some vid cam glasses or a go pro and get her on film, that'll show you the problem and help her fix it.

    Good luck!
    Sorry, not sorry.

Is your Kimber sight dialed in for you? If so, that might be the problem. I know from personal experience that I had to sometime aim off target to get the bullet on target when I was using someone else's gun at the range.

Use snap caps. Load a mag or two for her. Mix the snap caps with live rounds. See if she flinches or jerks the trigger in anticipation of the recoil. There is a BIG jump in recoil from .22LR to 9mm.

In addition, is her grouping consistent when hitting bull's eye? If the above doesn't work, then maybe tweak the elevation.

        Good luck!

Yup, sounds like its all in her mind. Bigger bang to her, bigger recoil to her. She is anticipating what to her is too much recoil, too much power. Tell her not to jerk the trigger, but to slowly squeeze it while keeping her sight alignment, Don't be afraid of it.

She's anticipating the recoil as the other guys said. Have her focus on her front sight and slowly squeeze the trigger and follow through. The sight should be in the same place during and after the trigger squeeze. Snap caps will help identify the flinch.

Not sure where you live, but I'd have her take some courses with guys like Grey Ops. They teach the fundamentals and she should be shooting almost same hole groups at 7 yards after one class.

Let me be the fifth one to say...Snap caps!

Yep. Snap caps works wonders for my son, wife and ME.

Here's what they do at Front Sight and it works wonders: Have the shooter sight in on the target and focus on the front sight. Finger out of the trigger guard. Instructor is to the side of the shooter and inserts his finger into the trigger guard and presses the trigger until it releases. It's always a surprise break to the shooter and 9 times out of 10 the shot is in the dead center of the target.

I'm inclined to think she has a very bad case of anticipation.
